Tellies

11/6/2016

As you know, the material goods provided to our refugee families under the VPR scheme are very basic and we as a voluntary community network have taken it upon ourselves to fill as many of the gaps as we are able.

One thing all the families say would vastly improve their standard of living is a TV.  This is for learning English, keeping in touch with the news from home, entertainment in an unfamiliar place where you don't yet speak the language, etc.

Therefore, across the county, we hope to provide 7 TVs and 7 TV licences. HWSF can provide one TV and one licence out of existing funds and we are hoping to negotiate a deal with a supplier for this and the six others, but in order to do this we are looking for donations to raise the lump sum.

We hope to buy TVs for about £200 and have identified a couple of models.  TV licences are £145, making the total to raise around £2100 - minus whatever discount we may be offered.

Please get in touch with Mick Hayter, our treasurer, if you would like to contribute to or fundraise for this project.  Mick's email: [email protected].
