"Volunteers are the life blood of our charity."  Watch our Volunteer Coordinator Annabel Kirk in this short video clip on volunteering with Herts Welcomes Refugees.  The video was made by North Herts Council when our volunteer Veronica was awarded a Local Hero award in the Caring category.
Watch this interview with our former volunteer coordinator Ruhena Akhtar, to find out how we can support you as a Herts Welcomes Refugees volunteer:

Herts Welcomes Refugees relies on volunteers to manage and promote the charity, fundraise, and to welcome and support refugee families and asylum seekers in Hertfordshire.

We need new volunteers to continue to support refugees and asylum seekers as their needs develop.

We are looking for volunteers with a variety of skills across the county. Please get in touch to see how you can help by e-mailing [email protected]

We are also looking to fill the following volunteer roles which could be done remotely and flexibly to fit around other commitments:

Treasurer: to take over as treasurer, managing HWR’s payments, financial records and accounts. No prior accounting experience required, but familiarity with charity regulations would be helpful. Please see job description below.

Membership secretary: this role requires overseeing our database of members along with putting together an agenda and taking minutes at our monthly management meeting.

IT support:  this role would require a couple of hours per week assisting our volunteers with any IT issues which may arise. We have recently migrated to using Microsoft as our main platform and would welcome a volunteer who can help with embedding this.

Book-keeping:  we are also looking for one or more volunteers to take supporting roles to the Treasurer as book-keepers.

Admin support: we have a range of small admin tasks which volunteers could do remotely at a time that suits them.

If one of these roles might be of interest to you/ friends/ contacts, please contact [email protected] for more information and to discuss the opportunity
