Calling all volunteers!

4/4/2016

The Syrian VPR scheme will be managed across Hertfordshire by the Refugee Council, which will therefore be responsible for managing volunteers, including arranging DBS checks. If you have expressed an interest in volunteering to support Syrian families, or would like to do so, please complete this form. The HWSF volunteer forms have helped us build a picture of offers of support across the county, but you will now need to complete the Refugee Council form. If you have any questions please contact Catherine. Please could you also let her know if you submit a volunteer application, saying where you're based, so we can keep track of volunteers and arrange meetings in different parts of the county. Many thanks.

I can take and accompany families/individuals to visits/ appointments/outings by car within a radius of 15 miles or so.
I have some household goods to pass on (tablecloths, pots, a bed etc.). I can invite families for a meal in my house and have children over to play in the garden (swings, trampoline, toys).

I am a retired teacher. I taught English as a second language in Harpenden infant and junior schools before I worked full time. I lived in Munich for 14 years, taught English and worked with African asylum seekers befriending them, helping with the children, sorting out passport issues and taking them to new homes. I could do the same in St Albans.
