How we're working during the covid-19 Lockdown
Volunteers Our volunteers are supporting refugee families remotely, keeping in regular contact by phone or computer. They are helping children with online schoolwork, shopping for families in isolation, and offering assistance in navigating online shopping, school food vouchers, and prescription services. They also continue to support English language learning. Most importantly they offer comfort and reassurance to the families at this difficult time.
Chromebooks We’ve delivered thirty-two new chromebooks to families over the past few months with more on the way. These are essential to families with schoolchildren whose learning has now gone entirely online. We’re also working to provide laptops for adults who need them.
Support Our local convenors are keeping in touch with all the families and we are working to ensure that those in need have financial support and supplies to get through the coming months.
Remote Meetings Our management team has been meeting weekly by video conference. Our volunteer coordinator meets with volunteers on a weekly basis to check in with them and to share best practices.
